Since its release, Palworld has been the subject of many comparisons with Pokémon, which he is very inspired by. No doubt a little too much in the eyes of Nintendo, who therefore took the necessary measures for this to change.
“Hey, but it looks like Pokémon With guns! »». This remark, we all made it when we discovered the first trailer of Palworld. It must be said that it is difficult not to see the influences of the franchise of Nintendo On the title of Pocket Pair, whose launch in early access really caused a sensation last year. And when we know how much the Kyoto firm is attached to its IPs, we all wondered how it was going to end. Today we have first elements of response, and it looks complicated for the studio.
Palworld reviews his copy because of Nintendo
It is through a long press release published on X that Pocket Pair has indeed mentioned the future of Palworld. “We are currently involved in prolonged legal proceedings concerning allegations of patent counterfeiting” explains the company. “We continue to challenge these allegations and assert the disability of the patents in question. However, we had to make certain compromises in order to avoid disrupting the development and distribution of Palworld ”.
This explains why certain mechanics have disappeared since the arrival of patch v0.3.11deployed on November 30. The main one being, without great surprise, being able to invoke pals by launching spheres, which were reminiscent of the invocation of Pokémons with Pokéballs. “Everyone here at Pocket Pair has been disappointed that this adjustment must have been made, and we understand perfectly that many players feel the same frustration” then continued the studio.
And unfortunately, things will not go by arranging since the new update scheduled for May 8 will also lead to the withdrawal of a game mechanics. “From this patch, the flat flight will be made using a glider rather than using the pals” explains Pocket Pair. “The Pals being part of the player’s team will continue to make passive improvements to the hovering flight, but the players must now have a glider in their inventory to be able to hover”.
New contents remain to come
“We hope that our fans understand that these changes are necessary to avoid new disturbances in the development of Palworld” nevertheless concludes the studio on this subject, while ensuring being “Determined to develop [le jeu] and to offer new exciting content ” in the future. The latter also took the opportunity to cheerfully thank his community for his support, especially in this difficult period. It remains to be seen how far Nintendo will go to defend his interests against Palworld.
