GTA 6 promises a fairly crazy open world, with within it what seems to be the return of a very important functionality of an old episode. Explanations.
While fans of Grand Theft Auto scrutinize each image of the second trailer of GTA 6 In search of clues, some already see the return of an emblematic … and controversial functionality: the relational activities introduced in GTA 4. Rockstar has confirmed anything yet, but several scenes intrigue, suggesting that the links between characters could play a much more important role this time. Between that and the open world Who looks crazy, it should be more alive than ever.
Jason and Lucia, more than a narrative duo in GTA 6?
The new trailer shows Jason and Lucia several times, the two protagonists of the GTA 6 game, in shared activities: car walk, intimate moments on the beach or even fired in jet ski. If some of these scenes can belong to classic cutscenes, others give the impression of open world interactions, escaping the strict framework of the missions.
This visual choice is not trivial for GTA 6. Rockstar has often used its trailers to distill elements of gameplay to come. Therefore, some fans imagine a system inspired by the friendly activities of GTA 4, but this time focused on the relationship between the two heroes. A way to add depth to their link, while integrating it into the gameplay in an organic way.
A legacy of GTA 4 brought up to date?
Long before GTA 6, in GTA 4, Niko Bellic could forge links with his friends or family via additional activities (bowling, bars, restaurants, etc.). The more these relationships developed, the more the player could take advantage of bonuses such as free transport, combat support, discounts. An attractive idea on paper, but which had ended up boring, because of incessant and not very discreet calls from the NPCs.
Rockstar had then largely put this system aside in GTA 5, preferring to focus on the unique skills of each character. Here, GTA 6 could synthesize, propose an enriched relational system, but integrated with more finesse in the gaming experience.
If this mechanism comes back, it could also influence the evolution of the main duo of GTA 6. We can imagine that the more the links between Jason and Lucia are strengthening, the more the player unlocks new skills or advantages. A system of progression linked to their complicity could thus emerge, like a shared skill tree, or contextual capacities accessible only in cooperation.
