Barely a few days before its exit, Mindseye is at the heart of a storm which seems to no longer end. What to compromise this GTA-like designed by an elder from Rockstar Games?
We are not going to lie, we can’t really say that the hype is there for MindsEye. The first game developed by Build A Rocket Boy, a studio founded by an alumni from Rockstar Games, this GTA-like scheduled for June 10 does not really shine by its presence in the news. Or in any case not in the right direction of the word, since after having received a big gameplay presentationthe title has mainly been talked about for the inappropriate remarks of one of its leaders. And the situation is unfortunately far from arranging.
Mindseye is in turmoil
At the end of last week, Mark Gerhard, co-PDG of the studio alongside Leslie Benzies, effectively hit the headlines because of her particularly doubtful remarks. Indeed, according to him, if Mindseye is the subject of negative criticisms today on the part of the press as content creators, it is simply because they would have been paid to say pain of the game. And not by anyone: by the creators of GTA 6 in person! Absurd remarks, of course, which then did not fail to react the canvas.
However, if a certain distrust currently surrounds the Mindseye project, it is not for nothing. We cannot really say that the few gameplay presentations that have taken place so far are very engaging. Because if the game does not seem to be catastrophic, it cannot be said either that it is up to current standards for a production of the genre. To tell the truth, many players even say that it seems to have a good ten years late, some ironic that it could almost be an heir to the PS3 / Xbox 360 generation.
The studio loses two key members
For Build A Rocket Boy, who has still not let the press approach Mindseye a few days before its release, the situation promises to be extremely complicated. And it is not the recent resignations within the studio that will reassure the players. Because as Riley Graebner, Legal Director, and Paul Bland, on their respective Linkedi, could not work for the British company after several years of good years of good years of good years of good and loyal service.
Of course, let’s not sell the bear’s skin either before having killed it: departures at the end of the finalization of a project are not necessarily an unusual thing in the industry. However, given the situation in which Mindseye is, this is interpreted by some as a new sign that the situation would be extremely delicate internally. Especially since this occurs shortly after the revelations made by former employees, who report an openly toxic ambient climate in Build A Rocket Boy.
A more than uncertain future
In short, as much to say that a stone’s throw from the exit from Mindseye, all this does not really do a service in the studio. Now it remains to be seen what welcome the players will they book in title within a few days. Will he come out in the most total indifference? Will he be the victim of a rain of murderous criticism? Or will it, on the contrary, create the good surprise? Unless it is a bit of this at a time? Response very soon. In the meantime, you can always find notre interview exclusive Game creators.
