Days Gone: Sad news officially announced for the studio

New blow for Bend Studio (Days Gone), who has just announced that he should separate from part of his workforce while he begins the development of his next game.

But what’s going on with the PlayStation Studios? This is the big question that everyone is asking. While the latter once again shone by their absence during the last State of Playthe bad news continues to be linked for the big family of Playstation. Because after the controversy having surrounded the revelation of Marathon (Bungie), then the announcement of Jade Raymond’s departure from the head of Fairgames (Haven Studios), it’s now the turn of the creators of Days Gone to be in turmoil.

A wave of layoffs announced at Bend Studio

Indeed, Bend Studio announced it yesterday via its various social networks: part of the workforce of the company unfortunately had to be dismissed. “Today, we have said goodbye to incredibly talented colleagues while we are transitioning to our next project” said the press release in particular. “It’s a difficult time for our team, but we have immense respect for all those who have allowed us to arrive so far. […] We are deeply grateful for their contributions ”.

This news then comes only a few weeks after the release of Days Gone Remasteredwhich is itself following the announcement of The cancellation of their latest project. A project which, obviously, was a new license taking the form of a service game. However, the latter has never had the opportunity to be formalized in good and due form by PlayStation, and finally joined the long list of service games canceled by the company. By his side in particular: Concord, the jeu multi The Last of Us of Naughty Dog, or a God of War de Bluepoint Games.

A new future under construction

The good news, however, is that Bend Studio is now at work on his next project. Of course, it is then unknown to what it is all about for the moment. PlayStation will he end up returning to his position concerning Days Gone 2 ? The studio, now deprived of 30% of its workforce (about 40 people) according to Jason Schreier, could it turn to Syphon Filter ? Or will it be, this time again, a new license? Response in the years to come. In the meantime, the remaining team announces “Stay determined[e] to build the future of Bend Studio with creativity, passion and innovation ».
