It was the big surprise not to be missed upon waking this morning: Netease officially launches on the AAA Solo market with Blood Message, an action-adventure game that is already dreaming.
You thought we had finished with the announcements now that the Summer Game Fest is behind us? Think again. While the great replacement for the E3 ended almost two weeks ago, many publishers continue to speak to make big announcements, like for example Capcom and its future showcaseor Xbox and its Next-Gen consoles. And this is still confirmed today with Netease, who took everyone to run with the announcement of his new game: Blood Message.
Netease embarks on solo games with Blood Message
Unveiled without crying in the middle of the night, the title developed by 24 Entertainment was indeed entitled to a beautiful and generous trailer which, let’s say it bluntly, clearly sends dreams. Designed under Unreal Engine 5, Blood Message presents itself as a narrative action-adventure game that will officially mark the arrival of Netease in the AAA solo productions sphere. Because yes, it will be a great first for the Chinese giant, so far renowned for its MMORPG, its online games and other free-to-play experiences.
“Blood Message presents a forgotten odyssey of loyalty and survival where the players join the uprising of Dunhuang, taking control of an unnamed messenger and his young son” explains the studio about the game. “Taken in the cross fire of a just revolt and pushed by loyalty to their family and their country, the players will embark on a perilous journey to the East to deliver a message that will determine the fate of their homeland torn by war. In the midst of the sand movements of history, they will engrave a last story of loyalty ”.
The story of Blood Message will take place more precisely during the last years of the Tang dynasty, and will notably invite players to embark on a perilous journey of more than 1,500km leading them to return to the heart of the Tang Empire, in Chang’an. Sorry deserts, vast wild expanses and other deadly landscapes of Central and Eastern Asia will then be there in this great adventure, which in this way will depict a whole section of the history of China through its customs, its culture and more.
A very promising action-adventure game
Regarding the gameplay, 24 Entertainment promises us a linear narrative experience, which will be based in particular on visceral fights to the sword being reminiscent of those of Ghost of Tsushimainfiltration sequences, and finally survival mechanics. But as the extracts present in the trailer can testify, we can also expect explosive action and adventure sequences, which are reminiscent of the most beautiful hours ofUncharted or last Tomb Raider.
Moreover, as the studio specifies, the protagonists of Blood Message were written on a basis similar to that of a Nathan Drake or a Lara Croft. “The game invites players to slip into the shoes of little -known heroes. Not emperors or generals, but ordinary people animated by an extraordinary determination. […] Blood Message is an ode to little -known heroes “. “We are ready to offer players from around the world a truly epic and cinematic experience”then declared Zhipeng Hu, principal producer and executive vice-president of Netease, for his part.
As for when we have the opportunity to put our hands on it, it is a mystery. Because for the time being, 24 Entertainment has been content to announce that Blood Message will be released on consoles and PC, without more precision.
