In an interview published a few days ago on the official Square Enix website, Kazutoyo Maehiro confirmed the bad news: this will not be the case.
“The other members of the development team and I were not directly involved in The War of the Lions, but I think that the content of this game fully met the expectations of the players of the time. However, thinking about all of this almost 30 years later, when creating this game, we wondered what our team – the one that created the Final Fantasy Tactics Original – could bring this game to a new generation of players. It is by reflecting on this question that we came to the conclusion that the most appropriate path for us was to respect the original game experience, and to recreate it in the best possible form. ”
