Between two paid levels, a number of Nintendo Switch games had to be satisfied with a simple free patch on Nintendo Switch 2. And yet, as two of the Zelda games prove, that sometimes makes all the difference.
With each new outing of the console, it’s the same thing. To enrich the catalog of a machine at its launch, publishers do not hesitate to offer improved versions of their games released on the previous generation, like Nintendo for example with its ” Nintendo Switch 2 Editions ”. Of course, these are paid levels, which can include unpublished content for the occasion. But as Digital Foundry proves today with two of the games Zeldasometimes there is no need to impress.
Two Zelda appear more beautiful than ever on Nintendo Switch 2
Indeed, if bestsellers like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom naturally had their Nintendo Switch 2 version, other episodes, with a little less resounding success, did not necessarily have this chance. This is particularly the case with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and ofEchoes of the Wisdomwhich must be satisfied with the improvements made natively by the new Nintendo machine. And yet, Digital Foundry assures it: that is enough for them to shine.
“Overall, this is one of the most impressive improvements that we saw when switch 1 to Switch 2” indeed reveals the media specialized in the field, before declaring that the two Zelda appear almost “Like a free remaster”. And for good reason: thanks to the Nintendo Switch 2, Link’s Awakening like Echoes of the Wisdom can today boast of offering an experience of greater fluidity, and especially with a much better resolution.
Because while on Nintendo Switch, both constantly fluctuated between 30 and 60 fps, it now appears that they benefit from a most stable framerate at 60 fps. Likewise, while the external environments originally displayed a resolution at 720p in Docké, they now appear with a very nice resolution in 1620p. As for the portable mode, we then go from a resolution in 570p / 600p to the origin at a resolution in 1080p native currently, which again represents a considerable gain for the two Zelda.
And without paid upgrade!
To tell the truth, the only reproach that seems to make Digital Foundry at the end of its various test sessions seems to be that the effect of depth of field no longer seems to be adjusted to the new resolutions of the Nintendo Switch 2. It is however a very meager problem for the two Zelda, which never turned as well as on the new Nintendo machine. And yet, let us remember once again if necessary: neither Link’s Awekening, nor Echoes of the Wisdom have been the subject of any paid upgrade. Like what…
