Failing to formalize the existence of a remake, Square Enix took advantage of the 25 years of Final Fantasy 9 to offer a number of small surprises to the franchise fans.
Here, Final Fantasy 9 already celebrated his 25th birthday. For fans, it was then an extremely expected day in the sense that they hoped only one thing: that rumors concerning the existence of a remake, mentioned for more than four years now, become reality. Unfortunately, this is without news of this FF9 Remakewhose development may well be in great difficultythat this day ended. The good side of things, however, is that it did not prevent Square Enix from reserving lots of small surprises for its community.
Square Enix celebrates the 25th anniversary of FF9
First of all, like a big nostalgia stitching, the Japanese publisher has indeed unveiled a new video called “Final Fantasy 9 25th Anniversary Special Movie”. Lastly over a minute, it pays homage to the title by compiling a series of images staging some of the highlights of the adventure, as well as the flagship characters of this opus which closed the first generation of PlayStation when it was released on July 7, 2000. It is not much, certainly, but that is still pleasure to see.
In parallel, Square Enix also unveiled three new exceptional illustrations, all made by the designer of Toshiyuki Itahana characters. The first two, in particular, highlight the Lifa tree, and this under two different looks. First from the point of view Zidane, Vivi, Garnet and the other heroes of FF9, then that of Kuja, aka the game antagonist. The third and last illustration, meanwhile, concentrates on the casting of the game, staged while sobriety on a white background.
Finally, the Japanese publisher obviously did not fail to take the opportunity to offer new merchandards dedicated to FF9. It is then in particular question of a 48 -page book featuring Vivi in a unprecedented story, a vinyl made up of a selection of songs from the soundtrack with a few re -recorded versions, several goodies sold on the Square Enix Store, and even a calendar in the colors of the game. As for artists at the soul, they then have the opportunity to take part in the FF9 fan Until October 31, 2025.
The game sold at broken prices
And because this is generally what tradition imposes, Square Enix has not resisted the urge to take advantage of this anniversary to conquer a new audience either. Thus, if you do not yet know FF9, it is an opportunity or never to remedy it by benefiting from a reduction of 70% on the price of the game, currently displayed at the exceptional price of € 6.29. But beware, it will not last. The offer will indeed stop on July 10 on Steam, July 11 on Green Man Gaming, and finally on July 16 on the Nintendo Store.
