The Nintendo Switch 2 receives a new update, what’s new?

The Nintendo Switch 2 still offers a new update. It must be admitted that the user experience is not yet optimal, with a few more bugs and various problems.

The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to evolve. Since July 14, a new system update has been available on the console. Numbered 20.2.0, it mainly brings technical corrections. Nothing very visible on the screen, but welcome adjustments for players who still meet concerns, especially with retrocompatibility.

A new update for the Nintendo Switch 2

As often with Nintendo, official notes remain very succinct. Depending on the support page, version 20.2.0 corrects a problem of transferring parental control parameters from Switch 1 to the Nintendo Switch 2. It also improves the general stability of the system.

Said like that, it doesn’t make you dream. But in fact, this update rule several concrete concerns encountered by certain players. For example, Portal 2 No longer plants to launch since the installation of the patch. The dataminer Oatmealdome, often well informed, confirms this point and evokes overall improvements for retrocompatible games for the Nintendo Switch 2.

A shared version between Switch 1 and 2

Another interesting point: the 20.2.0 update is also available on the first generation switch. Nintendo thus aligns the version numbers between its two machines, which undoubtedly facilitates maintenance and monitoring of fixes.

It also shows that Switch 1 is not abandoned. Even if the Nintendo Switch 2 is now the priority, Nintendo continues to ensure a certain follow -up for its former console. Good news for the millions of players who have not yet gone to the new generation.

Better optimization

Since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, several games from the Switch 1 have experienced unexpected bugs. Plantages, display problems or sound … Some titles were unplayable, despite the promise of an almost total retrocmpatibility.

Good news: this patch seems to correct several of these dysfunctions. Crypt of the NecroDancerfor example, no longer plants at startup. Some players now hope that other titles still unstable, such as Clonea or Automat Cleanwill soon be corrected in turn.

It is also advisable to relaunch problem games after update. Some could work perfectly, without this being explicitly mentioned in the patch notes.
