While waiting for the GTA 6 Pushed back to May 2026, some fans decided to revive another Rockstar classic: GTA 4. Thanks to the brand new mod iCEnhancer 4.0Liberty City has never been so beautiful. And for many, this work of enthusiasts finally approaches the remaster that Rockstar still does not seem to want to offer.
An impressive visual overhaul for GTA 4
The new version of the mod iCEnhancer literally transforms the atmosphere of the GTA 4 game. We discover a fully revised physical lighting, a more natural mist, much more realistic water and light effects of play much more recent. All without betraying the visual identity of the original title. The mod retains the urban and gray paw of Liberty City, but gives it a real stroke of a youngster. Result: GTA 4 takes on the appearance of unofficial remaster, both faithful and spectacular.
Icenhancer is not new, but this 4.0 version marks an important step. It has been developed over several years and refine all the visual aspects of the GTA 4 game. Be careful however: the MOD only works with the versions 1.0.3.0 et 1.0.4.0 From GTA 4. These are the only ones really compatible with the advanced effects as ENB. Interested players will therefore have to check their version of the game before getting started. But once in place, the result is well worth it.
Still nothing official on the Rockstar side
This new mod also highlights a point that fans keep recalling: GTA 4 has not known a real remaster. No Current-Gen version, no graphic update, no even modernized portage. Only Xbox retrocompatibility still allows you to play on console. Rumors, however, speak of a portage planned before the end of 2025, just to wait until GTA 6. But nothing has been confirmed. In the meantime, it is the players who take over to bring the game to life.
