Ghost of Yotei: A colossal lifespan? We officially have the answer

A few weeks before the release of Ghost of Yotei, Sucker Punch speaks on the life of the game, and on the way in which the experience was designed in relation to history.

With 3.2 million views recorded in the space of eleven days, the last State of Play de PlayStation allows us to draw up a clear observation: Ghost of Yotei is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated titles of this end of 2025. It must also be said that it arrives after a Ghost of Tsushima Crowned with success, which dropped millions of players under the spell of the universe of Sucker Punch. A universe that will therefore be found on October 2, and which should once again take care of many hours.

Ghost of Yotei’s lifespan unveiled

Because at a time when more and more games are tending to go out, with an ever longer lifespan, the time to complete a title has become an important criterion for many players. Sucker Punch knows this, and that is why at the bend of an interview for Video Games Chronicle, the studio has already confirmed that Ghost of Yotei would have a lifespan equivalent to that of his predecessor. “We have designed the game while keeping in mind certain figures similar to the last experience in terms of scale” reveals Jason Connell, creative director on the project.

“In this way, we found that it was quite satisfactory and that there were good figures from which start” he then adds. “We therefore believe that the full game experience on Ghost of Yotei, that you are simply looking to go through the story, to explore the whole world, or that you are an inveterate platinum hunter, is similar in terms of time investment”. Even if, as confirmed during the State of Play, the game will naturally include new activities to discover.

History will remain at the heart of experience

In fact, if we refer to the data shared on HowlongtoBeat for Ghost of Tsushima, it should take about 25 hours of play to see the end of the history of Ghost of Yotei, and 46 hours to go around all the annex and other secondary activities. For trophies hunters, the lifespan should then go up to sixty hours, which once again promises a busy adventure. Knowing that, of course, the lifespan of the game will also depend and above all essentially your way of playing.

“One of the things I love in the Ghost franchise is that there are a whole bunch of options to make it your experience” specifies for example Connell. “We have a game with this approach inspired by samurai films, and the tip for us as developers is to create a title that offers this additional level of creative freedom that we are looking for, which allows players to appreciate it while at the same time, we never abandon the structure of history. […] We attach great importance to history ”.
