GTA 6 may not be out yet, but it already seems destined to accumulate awards, like a certain Cyberpunk 2077 before it.
If all eyes are currently on the Game Awards 2025which each year represent the most popular gaming ceremony in the industry, this does not mean that they are the only ones. Last week, for example, the Golden Joystick Awards were held, a prestigious British ceremony organized by GamesRadar+, which notably allowed Chiaroscuro Expedition 33 to leave with his first GOTY. But Sandfall Interactive’s RPG isn’t the only game to shine that evening. GTA 6 was also there.
GTA 6 already shares a record with Cyberpunk 2077
Indeed, the game from Rockstar Games may well have been postponed for several months additional information recently, this absolutely does not prevent it from remaining the most anticipated game of 2026, and even without a doubt in the history of video games. It is therefore without any surprise that GTA 6 left the Golden Joystick Awards 2025 with the prize for “Most Anticipated Game” for the second year in a row. A prize that he won against titles like The Witcher 4, Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet and Kingdom Hearts 4.
And the fact is that thanks to this, GTA 6 is already following in the footsteps of two of the most popular games of recent years: The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Because yes, to date, CD Projekt RED’s two RPGs are the only titles to have won the “Most Anticipated Game” award two years in a row at the Golden Joystick Awards, in 2013/2014 for the first, and in 2018/2019 for the second. Hoping, nevertheless, that GTA 6 will experience a less eventful launch than the latter, and especially than Cyberpunk 2077.
But things don’t stop there. Because even without being released, GTA 6 already seems destined to accumulate rewards. Thus, during this evening, the future successor of GTA 5 was also entitled to a second prize, namely that of “Best Trailer” for its last trailer released in May. Enough to allow it to steal the show from titles like Battlefield 6, Rhythm Doctor, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, Romeo is a Dead Man and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, all competing in this category.
Soon the double at the Game Awards?
In short, suffice to say that this already sets the tone for GTA 6 which, as everyone expects, risks destroying everything in its path. Especially since this success may well not be limited to the Golden Joystick Awards. Let us remember that the Rockstar title is also nominated in the same category at the Game Awards 2025, knowing that it was already nominated in 2024 and that it emerged victorious. In fact, this could make GTA 6 the first game to win this award twice in both ceremonies. Answer on December 11.
