Silent Hill is going to make some very big changes and that might not please fans. Konami wants to play Call of Duty… it’s make or break.
We thought that Silent Hill was a license doomed to disappear, but Konami finally decided to let go of its NFTs and other Pachinko to revive it as everyone hoped. For the moment, apart from a little hiccup with Silent Hill Ascensionwe can say that it was successful. Silent Hill 2 Remake is a gem, so much so that Bloober Team is already working on the remake of the first part. Silent Hill f is also a great success and brings a real breath of fresh air to the license. We can only be reassured for the future on paper. At least until Konami reveals its true plans.
Towards a radical change for Silent Hill, it makes or breaks
If the franchise has accustomed us to unexpected plot twists, we would have done without this one. In the columns of Famitsu, Motoi Okamoto, main producer of Silent Hill, came to talk about the company’s objectives with its new goose that lays the golden eggs. If the big return of Silent Hill has been a long time coming, it seems that Konami now wants to make the most of it, even if it means wringing it out. Okamoto indeed declares that ultimately, the publisher would like the series to become an annual event: “Our goal is to release approximately one title per year, including both announced and unannounced games. We don’t know if we can achieve this goal, but we will do our best as producers of the Silent Hill series.”.
An aggressive strategy which pays off big when the series has its shoulders, but which is running out of steam. Call of Duty or even Assassin’s Creed paid the price, the failure of COD Black Ops 7 is a good example. Note, however, that Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f followed this pace, but we had the necessary development time. It remains to be seen whether the requested pace will not affect quality in the future.
A ton of fire games and projects
Among the announced projects, we know that SHTownfall is currently in development at NoCode and Annapurna. The game will also provide news very soon. It is even possible that it will be the Silent Hill of 2026 if we follow Konami’s logic. We also know that a remake of the very first game is currently in the works at Bloober Team and that a film directed by Christophe Gans is arriving on February 4, 2026 in our cinemas. The rest is currently kept secret even if it is said that another game in the series is in development at Bloober in addition to the remake.
In any case, Konami confirms that we haven’t seen everything yet and that a lot of things are coming. Motoi Okamoto still remains on the defensive, saying that he does not know if the pace can really be maintained, even if he will do everything to succeed. Its objective above all remains that fans can maintain a certain enthusiasm for the license. We can take the risk of responding to him now by telling him to give his developers time to give us masterclasses like SH 2 Remake and Silent Hill f, and everything should go well.
