Like every year, Steam has shared the list of the best-selling titles on its platform and the least we can say is that the ranking may surprise some.
No one will be able to say the opposite: 2025 will definitely have been a very good year for video games. Indeed, like every year, the Valve platform did not hesitate to share numerous rankings linked to the performance of the year 2025, among which is notably that of the best-selling games on Steam in terms of turnover. And the least we can say is that we are far from finding the same list as during ceremonies such as the Game Awards 2025. Moreover, a clear but nevertheless unsurprising trend emerges: multiplayer experiences dominate. See it for yourself with this Top 12:

If we remove Hollow Knight Silksong, Oblivion Remastered and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, all the titles on this Steam list indeed offer at least one multiplayer component, which clearly shows the attraction of players for it. Or at least, the fact that if successful, it could bring big returns to publishers. Enough to explain why even studios like FromSoftware end up doing it, knowing that the presence of Elden Ring Neighreign in this list shows that they had good reasons to do so.
Clair Obscur Expedition 33 misses the boat
That being said, fervent defenders of purely single-player games can rest assured: the latter are not far away either. As proof, the rest of the Steam ranking includes numerous single-player games, including DOOM: The Dark Ages, Dispatch, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Stellar Blade, Digimon Story Time Stranger… and even Clair Obscur Expedition 33. Because yes, although it failed to climb into the Top 12 of Steam’s best-selling games, the big favorite of the year still managed to establish itself in the Top 24.
