The Persona license will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year. ATLUS seems to have planned announcements around the saga, with perhaps finally a first trailer for Persona 6 this year.
In 2025, fans of Western RPGs and JRPGs were spoiled for choice with Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Monster Hunter Wilds, The Outer Worlds 2 and above all Chiaroscuro Expedition 33. The French RPG has marked the history of video games in its own way, but Guillaume Broche and his teams have not forgotten their influences. The director of Sandfall Interactive wanted to thank the creator of Final Fantasy during his speech at the Game Awards 2025, but he regularly paid tribute to those whose legacy Clair Obscur carries, starting with Persona.
The series experienced a second wind with the release of the fifth episode, particularly in its Royal version. Since then, ATLUS has taken its time creating its successor, giving new fans and players time to discover other major episodes in the saga through a series of remakes. Persona 3 Reload got the ball rolling, and Persona 4 Revival should follow soon, maybe even this year. But as the 30th anniversary of the license approaches, all eyes are on Persona 6. That’s good, SEGA has planned several announcements to commemorate this symbolic anniversary, and we already know when the first revelations will take place.
Finally the announcement of Persona 6 in 2026?
On September 20, 2026, the Persona saga will celebrate its 30th anniversary. If the license only really became known to the general European public recently, it has been an institution in Japan for decades. Traditionally, Japanese studios open pages dedicated to the commemorative event celebrating these important anniversaries, and announcements are made throughout the year. Sometimes, it only concerns merchandising (hello FF9), but often, the publishers mark the occasion with revelations which are enough to put the fan community in turmoil. ATLUS began to communicate around this important date by unveiling the official website for Persona’s 30th anniversary, accompanied by a first artwork representing all the protagonists of the license to date.
This site will be regularly updated with announcements which will certainly be distilled throughout the year, with, we hope, a first trailer or official information concerning Persona 6. However, it will not be the next episode which will be highlighted during the first announcement. Scheduled for January 8, 2026, it should still revolve around SEGA’s new cash cow: Persona 5.
You’ll never see it coming
Imagineer, the developer of Fitness Boxing, actually teased a new collaboration with the license while we were too busy celebrating. The image, which exactly reproduces the interface of Persona 5, leaves no doubt about the game that will be in the spotlight. Joker and his comrades have been producing spin-offs and collaborations for more than five years now. We have to believe that they will take up boxing soon. See you on January 8, 2026 to find out for sure. As for Persona 6, or even Persona 4 Revival, we can expect ATLUS to choose a more significant moment, such as Summer Game Fest, a State of Play, the Game Awards or simply the day of the 30th anniversary of the license, to make revelations.
