League of Legends had a big problem making it unplayable for a few hours, but it wasn’t a technical problem that caused it. The reason is much more lunar than that.
It’s the dumpling! League of Legends found itself unplayable for a few hours and it’s not the fault of a technical problem this time, but a completely different, quite surprising problem: a stupid oversight.

Sometimes even the biggest structures can have problems. Some games are unplayable upon release since they cannot accommodate the number of players, certain heavy maintenance operations can also cause technical problems. If you’ve been playing League of Legends since its inception, you probably know what I’m talking about here. We still remember the server movements which paralyzed the game for very, very long hours… days for some.
Fortunately, the problem that hit the game a few hours ago did not last that long and the reasons for this crash are not as serious and were quickly fixed. In reality, Riot Games had apparently simply forgotten to renew its digital license which was about to expire. As a result, everything was cut off for a while. A very stupid oversight which still raises real questions from a structural point of view. And it extends well beyond Riot Games, which is neither the first nor the last victim of this digital certification system. No one is safe from a cut in their services, not even a gigantic monster like League of Legends which has been a hit for more than fifteen years (that doesn’t make us any younger).
Either way, League of Legends is now back and everyone can enjoy it without any problem. The game is also preparing to launch its saison 1 2026 Salvation, which will highlight the region of Demacia, stronghold of Garen, Lux and Galio. In addition, a ton of changes will shake up the gameplay and events are expected, while the game prepares a major overhaul for 2027. We should have news of the latter later this year.
