Will GTA 6 really manage to stick to its new release date? At this point, nothing seems less certain as Rockstar Games aims for absolute perfection for the game.
For players who are waiting GTA 6 impatiently, 2025 will definitely not have been the year of good news. Certainly, we were finally entitled to new images and information on the title from Rockstar Games, but we also and above all learned son report twice, the game having first slipped to May 26, 2026 before ending on November 19, 2026. In fact, everyone now hopes that this new release date will be the right one even if, according to new information, nothing can guarantee that GTA 6 will be on time.
For GTA 6, Rockstar aims for nothing less than perfection
Indeed, according to the always very well informed Jason Schreier, the content of the Rockstar title is still not finalized ten months after its release, the fault in particular of the legendary perfectionism of the studio. “Last I heard, the content was still not complete” revealed the Bloomberg journalist on the podcast The Ringer-Verse. “This means that the developers are still finishing some things, finalizing the levels and missions, and seeing what will be integrated [à GTA 6] ».
In fact, at the time of writing, it remains particularly difficult to say with certainty whether Rockstar will indeed be able to meet the date of November 19, 2026, or whether a possible further postponement is to be expected. “It’s really hard to say right now, and I don’t think anyone at Rockstar can tell you with absolute certainty that they’ll be released [GTA 6] in November » affirme Schreier. “But people have the impression that [cette date] could be a little more solid » he adds all the same to reassure.
Of course, such uncertainty has something to do with the fact that Rockstar can’t bring itself to release a game that isn’t as perfect as possible. After the colossal success encountered by GTA 5and the excessive expectation aroused by GTA 6, the studio suspects that players expect nothing less than almost absolute perfection from them. In fact, the latter like Take-Two Interactive remain ready to take the necessary measures, even if it means having to postpone the game once again during the current fiscal year.
Is a further postponement expected?
Does this mean that GTA 6 will be postponed again? Not necessarily. Let’s emphasize this: at this stage, no one is really able to say anything. Not even Rockstar. However, with the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2027, this still leaves a little room for maneuver for teams if necessary. In the meantime, the development of GTA 6 continues to follow its course and should, once its content is finally finalized, be able to enter the bug correction phase according to Schreier.
