While waiting for The Witcher 4, The Blood of Dawnwalker, its direct rival coming this year, recently confirmed the presence of a feature particularly appreciated in this type of game.
After a recent trailer to mark the news, The Blood of Dawnwalker was talked about again through the New Game+ conference, where the game’s creative director was able to tell us more about this serious competitor in an interview. The Witcher 4 by Rebel Wolves, made up of CD Projekt RED veterans. We were thus able to learn more about the impact of our character’s actions and status on the world, but also about the existence of a functionality which could pleasantly heat the blood.
The Blood of Dawnwalker, or an even more attractive alternative to The Witcher 4
If we will have to wait until 2027/2028 to play The Witcher 4, the vampiric alternative of Rebel Wolves will no longer be desired for too long, since it is due to be released later this year on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Until the studio gives us a more precise date, the New Game+ conference was an opportunity to learn more about it through Mateusz Tomaszkiewiczcreative director of The Blood of Dawnwalker.
He notably explained how our main protagonist’s Dawnwalker, or half-vampire, status is a double-edged sword. During the day, we will have to compensate for the fact that our vampire powers are dormant through the use of magic, through our own life. In the evening, it will be the opposite, but with the disadvantage of risk attracting the attention of the wrong people. Our choices to advance in the story, like what we should find in The Witcher 4, will have a significant impact on the world. The fact in particular of causing too much disturbance to public order or eliminate soldiers of the lord of the region could for example cause us problems the futurebut also allow form alliances with rivals.
Speaking of the relationship, the creative director of The Blood of Dawnwalker also confirmed that it will be possible to indulge in romanceas you would expect again in The Witcher 4 and other RPGs of its type. An element which should please fans of such functionality, but also raise questions, since Cohen’s primary objective is to save his family, and in particular his other half, from the clutches of a group of vampires. However, it will be possible to completely ignore this, and embrace the darker side of the vampire that lies dormant in us. In any case, this is some intriguing new data for this rival of The Witcher 4 to come in the coming months.
