Baldur’s Gate 3 with a bit of Mass Effect and Star Wars. Here is Starfinder Afterlight, the next RPG sensation?

Developed by a Spanish studio, Starfinder Afterlight already seems to be establishing itself as a very solid candidate to become the next big RPG sensation.

Since the phenomenal success encountered by Baldur’s Gate 3 in 2023, many players are wondering who will be able to compete with the hit from Larian Studios. Because it is unfortunately official, it is not the latter who will be responsible for the development of Baldur’s Gate 4preferring instead to devote himself to a new Divinity. While waiting to discover who will have the difficult task of succeeding them, fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 must nevertheless absolutely take a look at Starfinder Afterlight, which could well become the new CRPG sensation.

Starfinder Afterlight could well become the next RPG phenomenon

Announced several months ago, Starfinder Afterlight presents itself as a new RPG taking place in the universe of the eponymous role-playing game published by Paizo Publishing in August 2017. Sharing its universe with Pathfinder, which itself is inspired by version 3.5 of Dungeons & Dragons, it thus takes the form of a science fiction version of this universe, which is reminiscent of that of major franchises like Star Wars, Mass Effect or even Alien. A promising mix, therefore, which is intended to be just as attractive as the pitch for Starfinder Afterlight.

“Gather your crew and venture into the Pact Worlds through a story filled with unlikely heroes, cosmic wonders and the bonds that define us” we can read in particular on the Steam page of the game. Because the objective of this potential successor to Baldur’s Gate 3, in particular, will then be to put together a team of misfits from the four corners of the universe to save its missing captain, but also to prevent the galaxy from being completely wiped out by a dangerous threat.

And we can say that with Starfinder Afterlight, Epictellers Entertainment, which will be signing its first game, really doesn’t do things by halves. For example, between 40 and 60 hours of gameplay have already been announced, alongside a branching narrative, turn-based tactical combat and the presence of six unique companions at our side. Not to mention that, just like Baldur’s Gate 3, many character classes will be available, including Soldier, Envoy, Operator, Mystic, Solarian and Sorcerer.

An enthusiasm already palpable among the players

Let’s also not forget to mention the game’s cast, which already features some of the most renowned actors in the industry. We are talking in particular about Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption 2), but also Neil Newbon (Baldur’s Gate 3), Fred Tatasciore (Mass Effect) and Carolina Ravassa (Dragon Age: The Veilguard). In short, everything you need to make Starfinder Afterlight a real success, which players are eager to discover if we are to believe the enthusiasm generated by the game’s Kickstarter campaign since its launch.

Because with 14,216 contributors at the time of writing, the Epictellers Entertainment title has already collected more than €811,300 in funding, out of a target initially set at €75,000. Knowing that it is still possible to participate in exchange for great rewards, in order to increase the chances of making Starfinder Afterlight the next big CRPG success. Finally, note that the title should be launched in early access in summer 2026, on a date which remains to be specified for the time being.
