Three years after its announcement, Masters of Albion, the next game from the creator of Fable, finally emerges from the shadows to reveal its release date, and it’s coming very soon.
After more than a decade of absence, Fable will officially make its comeback this year in the hands of Playground Games, which definitely has no shortage of things to do at the moment. Obviously, players are impatient at the idea of being able to discover more about the title, which will be revealed to us more next week during the Developer_Direct. But it turns out that 2026 will also mark the highly anticipated return of another big name in video games: Peter Molyneux. Because yes, the illustrious creator of Fable will also return with new adventures.
The new game from the creator of Fable is coming
Announced in 2023, Masters of Albion had somewhat disappeared from the radar for some time. Yet behind the scenes, Molyneux and his team were working hard to bring to life what could very well become a new benchmark in the simulation/strategy genre. Because the pedigree of the creator of Fable speaks for itself, his influences on the world of video games are still present everywhere around us today. And by describing this new title as a “god game that goes beyond the limits of the genre”22cans clearly sets out its ambitions.
Like a franchise like Fable, Masters of Albion promises a dynamic experience, the story of which will be set in a rich, deep world full of moral choices. “Let yourself be carried away by the intrigue where kings are crowned then deposed, where lords can shake your hand before stabbing you in the back, and where the common people work hard without any recognition” tells us in particular the Steam page of the game, which also announces a story tinged with magic and divine powers.
For its part, the gameplay of Masters of Albion will not be left out either, since day and night, the experience will be full of mechanics mixing simulation and strategy. The day, the objective will be to create, build and repair to make the city of Albion and its “pleasant and green landscape”. At night, on the other hand, you will have to take out your weapons to repel waves of merciless creatures (zombies, werewolves, trolls, etc.) and limit the damage caused by the battle as much as possible.
Release date finally revealed
Add to this the possibility of customizing all your heroes, and exploring a rich open world “where many wonderful discoveries await you in the heart of a whole variety of regions”and then you undoubtedly have a great adventure awaiting you with Masters of Albion. A game which, as 22cans has just announced, will therefore be released on April 22, 2026 on PC, to the delight of fans of Molyneux’s work. Enough to wait until the arrival of the next Fable, the release date of which remains unknown for the time being.
