10 years after its release, millions of Stardew Valley players still don’t have access to a very popular feature, and its creator is reacting.
In February 2026, Stardew Valley will indeed celebrate its tenth anniversary. In ten years of existence, the farm life and management simulator has undergone numerous changes and exponentially growing popularity. This is particularly thanks to various ports to multiple platforms, including mobile. Yet even after all this time, the PC stays ahead of the rest thanks to a feature that’s exclusive to it. Its creator, ConcernedApe, recently responded to a fan about this on X.com, to clarify things.
An absence of major modification of Stardew Valley in ten years explained by its creator
Given the enormous longevity and popularity of Stardew Valley, the title can count as much on the official support of its developers as on the commitment of its fans. This results in particular in a very active community of modders, with more than 30,000 mods today available on Nexus Mods… but inevitably only accessible on PC.
In response to a recent post on “ If it were easy to do, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. But I don’t think it’s possible, for many reasons », he writes.
This for a purely material reason, unfortunately independent of all the good will of the creator of Stardew Valley. While PC players can freely explore and alter a game’s code if they have access to it with the developers’ blessing, all console updates must first go through manufacturer approval. This means that accessible development tools to enable modding on consoles must be done in partnership and with the validation of Sony, Xbox or Nintendo before being the subject of in-game integration. A task far from simple, and which requires significant resources clearly beyond the reach of the small team behind Stardew Valley, to the great regret of console players.
