Rumors surrounding the first real Nintendo Direct of the year continue to grow. According to the latest rumors, Big N has more than one surprise up his sleeve.
Rumors around a Nintendo Direct continue to intensify. The usually well-informed sources now seem unanimous. The Kyoto firm would prepare its first real speech of the year by the end of the week. The date of February 5, 2026 comes back with insistence, but Nintendo could well see even bigger than expected. A second surprise would indeed have been revealed ahead of the event.
Two Nintendo Directs in February 2026?
AttackTheBacklog, NateTheHate, and now VGC. Three sources generally knowledgeable about Mario’s dads’ plans all agree on one thing. A new Nintendo Direct should take place this week. According to these same sources, however, we should expect a conference focused on the next games from the manufacturer’s partners. Between FF7 Rebirth, Witchbrook, The Duskbloodsthe port of Elden Ring, or even Clair Obscur Expedition 33, there is no shortage of highly anticipated candidates for Nintendo Switch 2. However, the wait before the next big house exclusives might not be as long as expected. According to other AttackTheBacklog sources, a second, more traditional Nintendo Direct would be expected by the third week of February 2026. Another speaking engagement would also be planned during March. On the other hand, this would not necessarily coincide with March 10, the day traditionally dedicated to Mario.
This next general Nintendo Direct could also be the opportunity to finally discover the first 3D Mario game for the Nintendo Switch 2, if we are to believe these same sources. We can also expect the announcement of the release dates of several major exclusives, such as Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave or Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, to name a few. Rumors oblige, all this information must obviously be taken with the greatest caution in the absence of an official announcement from Big N. If a Partner Showcase-type Nintendo Direct were to take place this week, its confirmation would now only be a matter of days.
And you, which games would you like to see during the first Nintendo Direct of 2026 dedicated to partner announcements?
