Frostpunk announces two very nice surprises, including one expected by millions of players

11 bit studios celebrated its flagship license by making two important announcements around Frostpunk and its sequel. Between the weight of decisions to carry everywhere with you and a highly anticipated DLC, here’s what to remember.

In less than 10 years and with only two episodes, Frostpunk has carved out a special place for itself in the small world of management and survival. A clever mix of city-builder and survival, the license has made its reputation thanks to its sometimes impossible, but always well-felt, moral dilemmas. Child labor, authoritarian laws and sacrifices as inevitable as they are necessary… every decision counts, for better or worse. This brutal and icy vision of survival has already won over 11 million players around the world and 11 bit studios celebrated this symbolic figure with two important announcements.

Two great announcements around Frostpunk

The game community is expected to grow soon. 11 bit studios announced on April 6, 2026 that Frostpunk would chill the blood of Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 players with its moral choices. No specific date for the moment, but the cruelest city-builder in the world can be played anywhere; in the subway, under the covers or discreetly during a break at work. “ I love Frostpunk because you always carry all your tough decisions and the guilt that comes with them with you. Being able to offer this game to so many players is a dream come true for me. It’s the perfect culmination of this journey. », Explains Jakub Stokalski, lead designer of the license and co-director of Frostpunk 2.

Speaking of the sequel, its new DLC, Breach of Trust, has also been announced and with a date. The appointment is thus set for June 23, 2026, direction New Edinburgh, a city built near an unstable volcano where your choices can save or roast your inhabitants. Change in temperature therefore, but the fundamentals remain: votes of confidence, independent colonies, threatening volcanic eruptions, and ashes which poison the population. It promises to be hot for the millions of Frostpunk 2 players, who were just waiting for this new content. For now, five communities and factions have been confirmed, as well as two scenario maps, new laws, narrative events specific to this DLC and obviously new buildings. The DLC of Frostpunk 2 will therefore be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series this summer.
