A few weeks before House of the Dragon returns to HBO Max, Warner Bros. announces the arrival of Game of Thrones Dragonfire, a new free strategy game, for 2026.
Almost fifteen years ago to the day, HBO unveiled the first episode of Game of Thronesa series destined to become one of the most popular in television history. Today considered one of the channel’s best productions despite a disappointing final season, the adaptation of George RR Martin’s work gave rise to numerous side projects, such as the spin-off House of the Dragon. A spin-off which, as we have just learned, will also be entitled to an associated free game called Game of Thrones Dragonfire.
Game of Thrones Dragonfire, a new free game, announced
After Game of Thrones: Kingsroadsreleased on PC, iOS and Android about a year ago, Warner Bros and HBO have indeed announced a new partnership with Game of Thrones Dragonfire, a new free mobile strategy game set in the era of the House of the Dragon series. Because yes, unfortunately for fans of the franchise, it is still not today that we will be entitled to the announcement of a AAA in the universe of George RR Martin, even though many players have been dreaming of it for many years already.
Announced on iOS and Android for this year, Game of Thrones Dragonfire promises a “unprecedented strategic approach to conquering the Seven Kingdoms through turn-based combat, in an era marked by the power of dragons” can we read in particular on the official website. Inspired by the events told in the House of the Dragon series, players will be able to discover a new story placing them in the shoes of a descendant of the Valyrians, responsible for raising dragons, forming alliances and leading major tactical battles in Westeros.
Failing to come across Daenerys Targaryen, who was not yet born at the time of the events of the game, Game of Thrones Dragonfire players should still come across some familiar faces, such as Rhaenyra and Aemond Targaryen, or even Corlys Velaryon and Alicent Hightower. Knowing that the developers of the game are already announcing the presence of a system of seasons lasting eight weeks each, which will all bring their own campaigns and special events.
Pre-registrations are open
Note that pre-registrations for Game of Thrones Dragonfire are now open, and they promise surprises for players at each new level. Thus, from one million pre-registrations, six banner creator emblems will be unlocked for the entire community upon launch of the game; while runic fragments, avatars and even the Dawnseeker dragon are announced for levels of 2, 5 and 10 million. House of the Dragon, for its part, will broadcast its third season on HBO Max in June 2026.
