Just a few days after receiving a rather substantial update, Mario Kart World is receiving a new update. Here’s everything it changes.
For a new Mario in 3Dit will obviously not be this year. The very well informed Nate The Hate revealed the outlines of Nintendo’s strategy for the months to come, and a new episode with the most famous plumber in the world would not be on the agenda before 2027. Big N will still capitalize on the 40 years of the license with its film Super Mario Galaxy, currently a hit at the box office, or even a new game dedicated to Yoshi, one of the stars of the film, scheduled for May. At the same time, the Japanese firm continues to improve its spearhead for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, Mario Kart World. A few days after receiving a new update, the game received yet another new patch.
Mario Kart World fit a version 1.6.1
On March 31, the technical showcase for the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 offered a fairly substantial new update. The latter notably added the famous “Bob-omb galore” mode within Battle Mode, as well as a series of adjustments aimed at improving gameplay and the overall experience. A few days later, Big N did it again and subtly corrected his copy with a small free update for Mario Kart World. This time only a few fixes have been deployed. Version 1.6.1 indeed focuses on two annoying bugs: one causing the game to crash during online sessions, the other preventing certain crucial bonuses during a race from activating correctly. Nothing as spectacular as the last patch, but enough to slightly improve the experience after these slight disappointments. Here are the details of the changes brought by this update to Mario Kart World.
- Fixed an issue where the Landing Speed Bonus would sometimes not activate after grinding under certain conditions.
- Fixed an issue sometimes causing the game to crash when switching from TV mode to Nomad mode after starting a multiplayer game with three or more players.
Let’s also remember that Mario Kart World has refined its gameplay with the previous update. In addition to the addition of the “Bob-omb galore” mode in Battle mode, the patch took care of a small proper rebalancing. The boomerang was nerfed, the chances of getting items from crates during races adjusted, and the performance of Ball Bills had also been improved. It now remains to be seen whether Nintendo will continue monitoring Mario Kart World over time, and whether it will offer DLC, or not.
