Assassin’s Creed: one of the next games still victim of leaks, but be careful!

Leaks from a Ubisoft employee provide news of a multiplayer episode of Assassin’s Creed. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting off to a bad start.

Relayed during the day of January 29, the news would concern an upcoming episode ofAssassin’s Creed still undisclosed. Better yet: we would be talking about a multiplayer episode currently in preparation, currently responding to the code name ofAssassin’s Creed Invictus. Ubisoft would indeed like to revive the emblematic multiplayer vision of the first opuses and would prepare a component focused around multiplayer experiences. However, let’s not rejoice too quickly, because a leak which apparently comes from an employee of the studio suggests that the atmosphere around this project is not the most cheerful.

A multi-episode of Assassin’s Creed inspired by Fall Guys?

In 2022, we indeed learned via a Ubisoft financial report that an episode called “Project Invictus” would be in the works, and that it would be a way for the studio to revive the multiplayer aspect of the series. As a reminder, we haven’t seen a multi mode since AC Black Flagreleased in 2013. A content creator named xJ0nathan gave news of the project this Thursday, through the words of a disgruntled employee.

Contacted by “a person from the development team” who wishes to remain anonymous, J0nathan explains on his X account that the people working on the project « don’t believe it at all ». The direction taken by the game would be that of a lighter project, with multiplayer events comparable to Fortnite or Fall Guys. « I don’t know any colleagues who like Assassin’s Creed Invictus »would have declared this disappointed employee. « Only managers will undoubtedly continue to smile and praise the merits of this project ». The comments go even further, because we can read further down in the tweet that the game would be ” awful “with “ridiculous animations, hideous characters and caricatured faces”. The employee in question who contacted the influencer explains that the team would “disgusted to work on this crap”.

Beware of comments from disgruntled employees

Still emotional, content creator j0nathan even uses an image of Ezio’s costume in Fall Guys in his message to mock the graphic style of the project. It was quickly reframed in response to his tweet by Tom Henderson, the founder of Insider Gaming. Henderson reminds him that the last time he heard, the game didn’t look like that and « looked more like a classic Assassin’s Creed game, with arenas based on the different games ».

He also reminds him that it can be awkward to relay information given in such a particular context. Ubisoft is indeed going through a unprecedented crisis and it is possible that some employees will speak out in protest, in revenge. « It’s not fair to the rest of the team who may not feel this way, and it puts the project in a difficult position »explains Tom Henderson. We therefore suggest that you take all of this with a grain of salt, especially at a time when Ubisoft’s teams are going through a complicated period. It can be easy to jump on the words of a clearly disgruntled developer for the sake of the click. But you also have to know how to take a step back from the situation.
