While waiting for The Witcher 4, The Blood of the Dawnwalker, its big competitor coming in 2026, provides some good news to start the new year off right.
While CD Projekt RED works on The Witcher 4veterans of the studio had decided to go their separate ways and found Rebel Wolves, with the aim of “creating deep RPGs with a strong narrative dimension”. Their first game to meet this mission, The Blood of Dawnwalkerturns out to be rather promising on paper, and according to the latest news was due to be released in 2026. Via a video aimed at wishing happy new year to those it may concern, Rebel Wolves has just shared more encouraging news for its vampiric title.
A Year of Blood opens in video for The Witcher 4’s vampire competitor
In many ways, The Blood of Dawnwalker and its studio Rebel Wolves share several elements that make up the DNA of The Witcher 4 and CD Projekt RED. Not surprising, considering that many of Rebel Wolves’ developers had previously worked on The Witcher 3 et Cyberpunk 2077. Their first game under the aegis of a new studio will take us into a vast open world within a very dark fantasy universe, where vampires reign supreme. Cohen, our character, will also become a human-vampire hybrid to try to save his family from their clutches and from an epidemic which is wreaking havoc… or succumb to his monstrous part, depending on everyone’s choices.
Despite a significantly smaller workforce than those working on The Witcher 4 (around 450 people at last count), the team behind The Blood of Dawnwalker in any case shares great ambitions, as evidenced by the video below.
