As the release of Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 on Nintendo Switch 2 approaches, bad news comes to put enthusiasts with angry physical editions.
In just under a month from today, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially available around the world. And if the players do not hide their excitement from the idea of discovering this new era of the history of Nintendo, the firm unfortunately does not escape many controversies. In particular: the fact that the physical version of certain games actually hides simple download codes. Like, as we have just learned, Sid Meier’s Civilization 7.
No cartridge for civilization 7 in physics
Indeed, if we refer to the jacket posted by the Game store, the physical version of the title of Firaxis Games will not contain the slightest cartridge. “Only download code. No game cartridges are included! »» Can we read on the box. For many players, and in particular physics lovers, so it is a real disappointment. And we understand them! Because again, beyond the preservation questions that this implies, when you buy a game in physics, it is to have concrete.
This news is also all the more surprising since the switch version of the game rests on a cartridge. Why, then, not reiterating the thing on the new Nintendo machine? It is a mystery. That said, for those who would absolutely want to have their cartridge, know that an alternative remains possible. Indeed, if you get the Switch version of Civilization 7, you can then upgrade to the Switch 2 version against the sum of € 9.99. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than nothing.
The contributions of the Switch 2 version
On a more positive note, the Game store tells us in passing that the title of Firaxis will benefit from a resolution in 4k / 30 FPS or 1080p / 60 FPS in its Dockée version. It will also support GameChat feature, in addition to taking advantage of the improvements made to Joy-Con. But that is not really a surprise because as the studio had revealed when the game announces, the main asset of this Switch 2 version will be based mainly on the possibility of using the Joy-Con in mouse mode.
