Cyberpunk 2 promises to be, once again, colossal, but there are big downsides and you will have to be very patient. CD Projekt would have big ambitions.
We know that the next game from CD Projekt RED is not Cyberpunk 2more The Witcher 4. An extremely anticipated sequel which will have to set the bar very high to meet fans’ expectations and rise to at least the same level as The Witcher 3. After that, logically, it is Cyberpunk 2, or Project Orion, which should see the light of day, but according to the very serious report from analysts, we will have time to see it coming.
Cyberpunk 2 should take its time, but there’s a good reason for that
CD Projekt RED is one of those studios that likes to take their time. So, evil tongues will say that it didn’t really work with the crash launch of Cyberpunk 2077but time has shown us that redemption was possible and above all that there were circumstances behind it. For Cyberpunk 2, however, players hope that the release will be smooth and, above all, without too many problems. The game is currently in development within the studio, but is not the ultimate priority, room being left to the adventures of Ciri which would be planned for 2027.
According to the analyst firm Noble Securities, Cyberpunk 2 would be released for the 10th anniversary of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2030. An estimate revised upwards following new information according to which CD Projekt would have planned to integrate more features, notably multiplayer, at the same time raising the budget to nearly 1.5 billion zlotys, or nearly 355 million euros. “The desire to integrate multiplayer into production has pushed us to review our predictions on development time beyond the progress of the W4 reference game. As a result, the budget reached 1.5 billion PLN (zlotys), so we expect a release in the fourth quarter of 2030” can we read via Strefa Inwestorow who transcribed a meeting between the firm and its investors.
A game that promises to be excessive
Currently, 135 people are working on Cyberpunk 2 and according to the analyst firm, this figure is expected to double in the coming years. On this, we can count on CD Projekt to play the transparency card. Quite regularly, the studio gives us news on the distribution of work within the studio. According to the latest news, it was The Witcher 4 which was the top priority, Project Orion, or Cyberpunk 2, only arriving afterwards. Either way, Cyberpunk 2 looks set to once again be an over-the-top game. Still according to the firm, if the budget is so high, it is because CD Projekt would aim for a medium and long term strategy to make costs profitable, in particular thanks to its online functionalities, but also its monitoring. History has shown us that in terms of monitoring its games, the studio is doing wonderfully, well beyond expectations even. Concerning the multiplayer aspect, aborted for Cyberpunk 2077, it’s a different story, but we’re curious.
