Square Enix has just announced the upcoming release of a brand new version of FF7 on PC, with new features that should interest fans. And good news, it will be free for many people.
And Final Fantasy VII has obviously been on everyone’s lips for several years thanks to the trilogy FF7 Remake which reimagines this iconic episode, it’s not her we’re going to talk about today. Square Enix has just published an announcement concerning the original episode of the game. new version should soon be released 13 years later, and it will be offered free to many players.
This is news that should delight FF7 players on PC
In addition to the FF7 Remake trilogy, it is in fact still possible to play the original episode on PC and consoles in a port released in 2013. PC players were, however, the worst off, because the version available on Steam unfortunately had a lot of technical problems despite the undeniable qualities of the game. Square Enix wants to correct the situationand is preparing to release an improved version on Steam.
« A new version of FINAL FANTASY VII will be released on Steam »can we read in a post published on Steam. This will take the place of the original version of FF7 released in 2013, which will now be called FINAL FANTASY VII – 2013 Edition. The old version will therefore no longer be available for sale, but players who already own it will keep it in their Steam library and benefit from the free update. For those who want to buy it after the release of this new version, it will simply bear the name FINAL FANTASY VII to avoid any confusion.
It is still unclear precisely what Square Enix wishes to correct with this re-release, which does not currently have a precise release date. We simply know that saves will not be compatible from one game to another. It could be identical to that already available on consoles: fewer technical problems, the possibility of being invincible or of activating an option to skip all the fights if you wish. This decision would therefore make it possible to standardize all the original versions of FF7 between PC and consoles. And we’re clearly not going to complain.
