While Final Fantasy 7 Remake is preparing to land on Nintendo Switch 2, Square Enix reiterates its desire to open the franchise to new audiences, and in particular to Xbox Series players.
For players, the publisher’s financial balance sheet period is always an interesting moment to study. Indeed, beyond revealing the good health or not of a business, it is also and above all an opportunity to learn more about the future of it. Next expected outings, long -term calendar, future strategies, this can say a lot. The proof with Square Enix who, in addition to having finally given the fans of Kingdom Hearts 4 what they were waiting for, seems to specify good news concerning FF7 Remake.
FF7 remakes on Xbox, soon a reality?
It is no longer a secret: the Japanese publisher tends slowly but surely to turn to multiplatform, by offering titles formerly exclusive to PlayStation on new supports. This is particularly the case for FF7 remake who, after arriving on PC in 2021, is now preparing to land on Nintendo Switch 2. And it may well be that things do not stop there, since Square Enix also mentioned his desire to continue to extend the scope of his games to Xbox Series.
So, we prefer to warn you right away: no, no concrete announcement has been made on this subject at the moment. Nevertheless, the company again reconfirmed that this multiplatform strategy was part of its “Medium -term corporate plan”and that it should extend until March 2027 at least. In fact, it is therefore not impossible to see new Final Fantasy finally land on Microsoft’s machines in the more or less close future, even if it may be necessary to wait for the arrival of FF7 Remake 3 for that.
A winning strategy for Square Enix
In 2024, Square Enix already revealed its intentions to open the franchise to new consoles, the fault notably the disappointing results recorded by Final Fantasy 16 et Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It was not later that last week, Naoki Hamaguchidirector of FF7 remake, also supported this idea heavily by implying that the arrival of the game on Nintendo Switch 2 was only the beginning of a “Solid partnership between Nintendo and [la licence] ».
Knowing that FF7 Rebirth was also entitled to its PC version last January, so we can expect it also ends up arriving on the new Nintendo machine, then on Xbox later. And the least we can say is that it would certainly make many happy, since demand has been particularly strong for several years. And that, the reception reserved for Final Fantasy 14 et Final Fantasy Pixel Remasterboth arrived on Xbox Series current 2024, can testify.
