Failing to be able to play GTA 6 in the near future, Rockstar Games fans are mobilizing to make an old, much-loved title from the company playable for free.
In an ideal world, it has already been several weeks since the doors of Leonidas should have opened to us at the end of 2025. But reality being what it is, it is unfortunately with a lot of delay that the much-awaited GTA 6which saw its release date slide to May 26, 2026 initially, then to November 19th the same year subsequently. Enough to make Rockstar Games fans languish a little longer than expected, therefore, even if they never lack resources to find something to occupy themselves.

As proof, several years after being removed from the Steam library by the star firm, Midnight Club 2 is now making its comeback on PC, thanks to a repack entirely designed by a group of fans. Downloadable for free via the Archive.org site, it then includes all the necessary fixes to allow the game to run correctly on the most recent machines, in addition to supporting modern controllers for better gaming comfort.
And the best part? The installation of Midnight Club 2 has been designed to be as simple as possible. All you have to do is download the file, extract the data, and finally launch the executable to be able to (re)discover this Rockstar San Diego title released in 2003 on PS2, Xbox and PC. A game which, at the time of writing, is no longer accessible on the most recent consoles, while the franchise has been sleeping in Rockstar’s boxes since the release of Midnight Club: Los Angeles in 2008.
Note, however, that this repack of Midnight Club 2 has been designed for a frame rate capped at 30 FPS, so as to avoid any problems. “It is not recommended to exceed 60 FPS”specify the creators of the repack, while adding that those who wish to play at 60 FPS can “edit the DxWrapper.ini file in Data/Scripts”. So of course, it’s still not GTA 6, but if we can’t play it immediately, it should at least keep those most nostalgic for Rockstar’s work busy for a good handful of hours.
