While it should have been released on the same day on all platforms, the Nintendo Switch 2 is paying the price for a new postponement for a big Day One title.
Since its release in June 2025, the Nintendo Switch 2 hosted relatively few “Day One” titles, on the day of their international release on other platforms. As a recent example, however, we can cite Resident Evil Requiemwhich was also entitled to an apparently rather solid version on the latest Big N console. In most scenarios however, we note that most of the titles announced as being released simultaneously on all platforms ultimately had to postpone their release on the Japanese hybrid machine, as for example Borderlands 4. And this is precisely the case for one of the major releases coming next month… except on the Switch 2. And the players did not fail to show their discontent about this.
A first light which will arrive later on Nintendo Switch 2, to the great dismay of players
Despite its technical sheet being significantly more powerful than that of its big sister, the Nintendo Switch 2 still seems to pose a major challenge for many developers. Whether this is because of the limitations due to its hybrid status or the fact that the studios received the development kits too shortly before the release of the console, we see that third-party games are having a hard time taming the beast. Which led to postponements of an “indefinite period” for games like Borderlands 4 or even the Tarnished Edition d’Elden Ring.
Following the publication of a new developer diary, another studio unfortunately announced that the release of its game on Nintendo Switch 2 would arrive a little late, and more precisely during the summer instead of May 27, 2026. We are therefore talking here about 007 First Light from IO Interactive. Already the subject of a postponement for its release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series, this time it will arrive on May 27, 2026, except on the Big N console, in order to “ provide the best possible experience for all platforms ».
This announcement, however, sparked wave of annoyance among Nintendo Switch 2 playerswho still feel shunned by developers and forced to wait several months compared to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series players. So much so that some have called for boycottin this case attacking IO Interactive for having lied by announcing that 007 First Light was going to be released on the same day on all platforms. Increasingly, Nintendo Switch 2 players fear experiencing the same problems as its big sister: third-party games arriving very late and major optimization problems due to the technical limitations of the console. The future will tell us if this is confirmed, or if the studios will manage to better master the machine over time.
