Kingdom Hearts fans are masters at discovering new details or inconsistencies in the games of their favorite saga. 20 years later, a small error was discovered in Kingdom Hearts 2.
The year 2025 will undoubtedly have been one of disappointment for fans of Kingdom Hearts. The mobile game KH Missing Link, which was to serve as an appetizer while waiting for KH4 and its new narrative arc, was finally canceled without warning. Faced with general concern, Square Enix shared a thumbnail made up of a few thumbnail images of average quality in the hope of reassuring the community: Kingdom Hearts 4 is still in development. And as always, every event, every special occasion brings hope to a community that desperately needs it.
The Japanese publisher, however, seems more concerned with its short-term projects, notably the release of Dragon Quest 7 Remake and the ports of FF7 Remake Intergrade, which should breathe new life into the trilogy of remakes. In the meantime, Kingdom Hearts fans are doing what they do best: they’re replaying old episodes in the hope of making new discoveries or finding new secrets, and the efforts of some are paying off.
An error discovered in Kingdom Hearts 2
Fans of the series know well that Tetsuya Nomura takes great pleasure in hiding many secrets and details in all the episodes of the saga. From almost everything found in the World of Wonder to Sora’s missing shadow in Neverland, players regularly discover new ones. This is the case of Reddit user SaucyJack01, who spotted an interesting detail in Kingdom Hearts 2 that had previously gone unnoticed, even 20 years later.
In the scene where Roxas opens Hayner’s letter on the third day, the speech bubble displays the following text: “Meet at the train station. The beach is waiting for us, don’t worry about the money. » However, when he zoomed in on the letter itself, he discovered that a completely different message was written there: “I’m waiting at the station. Today my friends is the day we finally go to the beach. (Money? No problemo!).”
The trained eye of Tetsuya Nomura and his teams therefore left a very small error in Kingdom Hearts 2, especially since the letter is written in English in all the languages of the game. This is undoubtedly a dissonance between the Japanese version, used for the translation, and the official English translator of the game, who did not have access to the assets of said letter. A detail that did not fail to get people talking within a community always hungry for this type of discovery… Yes, it is time for Kingdom Hearts 4 to be released.
