Mindseye, the next title of Leslie Benzies (GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption …), could well convince part of the players for its “old-school” approach.
Everyone has their eyes riveted on GTA 6 And somewhere, that’s quite normal. It is one of the most anticipated games of the year and generation, in addition to being the next iteration of a just cult license. And after the slap Red Dead Redemption 2Rockstar Games has the pressure even more and must hit hard. But before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, a former key member of R* will return to the video game scene with an ambitious project: MindsEye. A game that seems to want to bet in the long term, but taking one of the models that have dominated for many years.
Mindseye wants to be respectful of your time
MindsEye is the next game of Leslie Benzies who has been producer on the trilogie GTAsome spin-off, Grand Theft Auto IV and V or Manhunt and Max Payne 3. A huge CV that he will take advantage of to offer a cinematographic, linear blockbuster but with great freedom. Said like that, it may seem contradictory, but it is the promise of this new GTA-like. At first, Benzies and its teams want to offer a very framed adventure and which will thus grant the wish of many players and even the dream of millions of them because of its lifespan.
While the games have been flocking for years at this level, Mindseye wants to be a solo game “as before” and as there are still fortunately. But the latter find themselves in the midst of open world titles which sometimes require hundreds of hours of play. “I think there is something to say about a really significant story, well rhythmic, really well constructed, well designed, in which players can immerse themselves, which has moments of tension, characters’ development, moments of tenderness, and then moments of spectacle and drama” said Benzies to Eurogamer.
With Mindseye, Benzies wants to offer a « History respectful of your time »and that is why the lifetime will be at around 15 am. And rather than having a fully open city from the start, it will be discovered as you go. Although the latter is a large minium with various places, we are not on an open world either. On the other hand, the software will not ignore annex content for those who wish to flutter between two scenario missions.
