The Nintendo Switch offers a big update to best prepare the arrival of the Switch 2.. A welcome change, long demanded by many players.
The eshop of the Nintendo Switch has just received an important update. Shortly after the Last Big Shift. A discreet evolution, but which could well change the situation, especially when approaching the Nintendo Switch 2. Because let’s be honest: since 2017, the Nintendo online store has hardly changed. And she needed it ….
A big update before the Nintendo Switch 2
Dated interface, navigation not always practical, lack of filters … The eshop of the Nintendo Switch is often judged to train, especially in front of the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store. But what annoys the players the most for years is the massive presence of poor quality games. Titles sold at broken prices, often without interest, but which squat the rankings.
For what ? Because they took advantage of a simple flaw: being sold at very low prices to generate many small sales, and easily climb in the top sales. As a result, these games were put forward, sometimes even in front of real good titles.
Nintendo changes the rules of the game
With its latest update, Nintendo finally reviews the classification system of the Eshop of the Nintendo Switch. From now on, the charts will no longer be based on the number of copies sold in 48 hours. Instead, the turnover generated over 72 hours will be taken into account. Clearly: a game sold for 1 € will have to sell more to compete with a title at 20 €. This will strongly limit the visibility of the sets, which flooded the top sales thanks to aggressive promotions and a misleading communication.
Difficult not to make the link with the upcoming arrival of the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo quietly prepares the terrain, and this improvement goes in the right direction. It may be the beginning of a cleaner, more readable, and better organized eshop.
Obviously, this update does not adjust everything. The catalog is still very busy, and the interface deserves a real new stroke. But this change shows that Nintendo finally takes the user experience seriously on its platform.
