PlayStation: an exclusivity PS5 still in turmoil, it does not smell good

New unexpected twist at PlayStation. Jade Raymond, director of Haven Studios, would have left her duties and would no longer work on the Fairgame $ game.

Certainly, things seem very complicated for Jade Raymond for a few years. After contributing to the success of franchises as Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell Or Watch Dogs at Ubisoft, the designer has indeed struggled to bounce back in her career. Passed by Electronic Arts then by Google Stadia, she then finished at PlayStation thanks to Haven Studios, which she founded in March 2021, and who is currently working on her first game: Fairgame$. A first game which, however, will have to end without it.

Jade Raymond would have left Haven Studios

In a new report published by Bloomberg, journalist Jason Schreier tells us that Raymond has now left the ship. “Jade Raymond was an incredible partner and a visionary force in the creation of Haven Studios” would then have indicated a spokesperson for PlayStation, who bought the studio in July 2022. “We are deeply grateful to him for his leadership and contributions, and we wish him the best for the future”.

The exact reasons for his departure, on the other hand, were not disclosed. However, it seems that it occurred several weeks after holding a series of external tests for fairgame $. Would that have any link? It is not impossible. Especially since, if we believe the words of Schreier, certain developers from Haven Studios, who obviously wanted to keep anonymity, would have shared their concerns about the reception of the game. And we can easily understand why.

PlayStation and the Curse of Service Games

Announced now several years ago by the Japanese firm, it cannot be said that the live-service turn started by PlayStation has paid off. Out of a dozen games announced, a good half have been canceled today, including in particular games The Last of Us et God of War. And let’s not talk about Concordwho has reached himself at its launch, to the point of being retired from the sale After two weeks of marketing. No wonder, therefore, that the Fairgame $ case arouses strong concerns.

At the moment, we have very little information on the title of Haven Studios announced in 2023. All we know is that it will be a competitive robbery game aimed at “Offer a new multiplayer experience [récompensant] creativity and mastery, while decorating each [n]bone parts of amazing stories “. It appears, however, that the project to do $ takes its course, PlayStation having assured being “Stopped to support the studio and impatient to continue the trip” In the company of its new directors: Marie-Eve Danis and Pierre-François Sapinski. Jade Raymond has not yet spoken about it.
