Stranger Things is over and for good. Fans were expecting a huge surprise, but in the end, the disappointment was twofold. Which didn’t stop Netflix from having big problems.

But here we are the day after the fateful date that everyone was waiting for and neither Netflixnor the Duffer brothers seem to be responding to fan requests. On the other hand, the latter were heard and even felt on the SVOD platform.
Stranger Things will have disappointed its fans until the end
On January 7, many thought they would find a secret episode 9 supposed to conclude Stranger Things. The finale broadcast on January 1, 2026 not being up to par, fans got locked into a succession of theories taking as clues the inconsistencies and messy errors made in the last episodes of the series. A period which must have been particularly painful for the Duffer brothers. The latter have already had to do countless interviews to answer the many unanswered questions that the last episode left us and tell us that everything happens off-screen, but in addition a myriad of fans have been pointing out the problems of season 5 all week. On the big day, it was Netflix that exploded.
The SVOD platform suffered a crash as millions of spectators flocked to it in the hope of finding this famous secret episode. In the end, it will not be the case, Stranger Things visibly ends with a mediocre, if not bad, episode 8 and a season overall far below what it had accustomed us to. There are still many reactions on social networks. Some fans are still laughing and making fun of it, while others are disappointed and even angry.
But it’s not over yet!
However, everything is not yet finished. The universe of Stranger Things intends to develop further and new series is in preparation. It will not take place in Hawkins, nor at the same time as the main series, but will indeed be linked. We should also have some answers to our unanswered questions, particularly regarding the origin of Vecna’s powers. The Duffer brothers have in any case confirmed it and also assured that they would be very involved in this new series without taking the reins. The production and part of the writing will be left to a new team. A little fresh blood that shouldn’t do any harm to the franchise. In addition, a behind-the-scenes documentary on the series will be broadcast on January 12.
