The Elder Scrolls 6 was recently the subject of a new insider report suggesting clear improvements for Bethesda’s next game thanks to lessons learned by the studio on the controversial Starfield.
Released in 2023, StarfieldBethesda’s first brand new license in decades, did not generally live up to the expectations of fans of the American giant. Players criticized it in particular for a certain archaism in terms of gameplay and the exploration of its vast galaxy. While all eyes are now turning towards The Elder Scrolls 6a recent report indicates that Todd Howard and his teams have learned the galactic lesson and intend to smooth things over for their next highly anticipated game.
In addition to inaugurating a brand new license, Starfield also allowed Bethesda to release the latest version of Creation Engine, its in-house engine, which will naturally also power The Elder Scrolls 6. This has, however, been the subject of strong criticism, particularly in terms of sometimes terrifying facesor certain textures that are not very attractive. Another fault that is mostly pointed out is the astronomical amount of loading time. Starfield actually has more loading times than any previous Bethesda game.
According to a recent report from Jez Corden for Windows Central, Bethesda would have just got their hands dirty to soon deploy a huge update for Starfield and in particular drastically reduce the frustrating occurrence of these loading timesin addition to a second expansion after the very disappointing Shattered Space and a version PS5. By extension, this means that The Elder Scrolls 6 should also benefit from improvements to Bethesda’s engine at this level.
Obviously, this doesn’t mean that the Skyrim sequel will miraculously get rid of loading times completely. These will probably continue to take place when we will go from indoor to outdoor and vice versa. On the other hand, exploration in The Elder Scrolls 6, presumably in a vast hand-built playing field, and not procedurally generated planets, should be relatively fluid. In any case, you will have to be patient to find out, as the title will not be released for a few more years.
