The Sims 4 Heritage & Royalty, the game’s next major expansion, is finally revealed in a gameplay video detailing its main mechanics. Suffice to say that the community is already white hot.
On February 12, 2026, the players of The Sims 4 will be able to hit the red carpet, bring out the fanciest silverware and start plotting for power and the crown. The Sims 4 Heritage & Royalty will be available in two weeks and will bring its share of new features. Starting with a whole new world, the largest ever created since The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs in 2017. Maxis had already presented the broad outlines of the next DLC, which could be the last of the game according to rumors, and continues to reveal more by focusing on the gameplay.
The Sims 4 Legacy & Royalty reveals its gameplay
Family lines gain depth thanks to the Dynasties system, designed to give more scope to the stories created with your favorite families. In a video released on January 29, 2026, Maxis shows how to create and manage an influential family, define its values, its coat of arms and develop prestige and unity over generations in The Sims 4 Heritage & Royalty. Noble Sims will have to deal with the opinions of their subjects, increase their prestige and avoid missteps that could tarnish their reputation. Sword duels to settle quarrels or win over a suitor, grand social balls, investigations aimed at unearthing the secrets of rival families… The Sims 4 Heritage & Royalty fully plays the card of aristocratic drama worthy of an episode of Bridgerton.
Royal status is not mandatory, however. Any family can claim the title of Dynasty, as shown by the Gothik and the Landgraab, already confirmed as lineages in The Sims 4 Heritage & Royalty. In fact, the creation of a Dynasty is inspired by the clubs introduced with Heure de Gloire. The player defines his members, designs a crest and establishes values and encouraged skills. The Dynasty leader has extensive powers to manage directions, memberships and legacies, but his position can be contested, and disgruntled members can split to found their own Dynasty. Finally, the family tree will be enriched, revealing illegitimate children and family secrets, promising scandals and blackmail galore.
