This PS1 classic is going to make a comeback and it’s underrated

Available since this summer on Nintendo Switch, Front Mission 3 Remake will land very soon on all platforms, in addition to offering a demo for everyone.

If the name Capcom is undoubtedly the one that comes up the most when we talk about game remakes, it is clear that a publisher like Square Enix is not left out on its side either. This PS1 classic from Square Enix is coming to new platforms

Indeed, after benefiting from an exclusive release on Nintendo Switch on June 26, the title developed by MegaPixel Studio and published by ForeverEntertainment is expected on new platforms from January 30, 2026, where it will land on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC. It will thus allow many additional players to (re)discover this underrated tactical RPG originally developed by SquareSoft, and released during the summer of 2000 on PS1 in our European regions.

The third installment in a five-episode saga, Front Mission 3 Remake takes place in a future where nations and corporations compete for domination of a world shaped by powerful robots called “Wanzers”. We play Kazuki Takemura, a hero finding himself at the heart of a story mixing global conspiracy, secret weapons, corporate greed and nationalist agendas. Note also that if you are interested in the Front Mission 3 Remake experience, a demo is currently available on all of the aforementioned platforms.

And if by chance this turns out to be profitable, you should also know that the Square Enix license has already been entitled to two remakes in the past, with the first Front Mission in 2022, then Front Mission 2 in 2024. Enough to allow you to hang up the wagons if you wish, therefore, while helping you to wait until the release of Front Mission 3 Remake next month. A title which, let us point out all the same, has however been singled out for its intensive use of generative AI. A subject definitely hot in this year 2025.
