While waiting to finally be able to talk about Far Cry 7, Ubisoft intends to invite players to dive back into previous opuses with the arrival of free updates.
It has now been more than four years since Far Cry 6 was born, and the least we can say is that the future of the franchise remains very mysterious for the moment. Because apart from a project of television seriesmade official several months ago now, and a series of rumors whose veracity remains to be proven concerning Far Cry 7Ubisoft has definitely decided to keep a low profile for the moment. But that doesn’t mean that the license is dormant, as evidenced by this new surprise coming for fans.
A free update announced for Far Cry 3, more are coming
Indeed, while not being able to give us any news about Far Cry 7 at the moment, Ubisoft intends to encourage players to dive back into previous opuses to wait. And this will start on January 21 with Far Cry 3which will receive a new free update for its Classic Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series. On the program: no new content to report, but only an upgrade of the frame rate to be able to enjoy the entire adventure in 60 FPS.
In doing so, Far Cry 3 is preparing to join Far Cry 4 and New Dawn in the list of episodes currently available in 60 FPS, knowing that it will not be the last to benefit from it. Because as teased by Ubisoft on its social networks, two other opuses will also be entitled to the same treatment in the near future: Blood Dragon et Far Cry Primal. For the moment, however, we do not know when precisely the updates are planned for the latter, even if it is undoubtedly only a question of time.
This will therefore allow us to wait as we should until the announcement of Far Cry 7 which, according to the latest news, would give the Ubisoft teams a lot of trouble. In any case, this is what Tom Henderson revealed a few months ago, in a report telling us that the game, initially planned for release in the fall of 2025, would have ultimately been postponed internally. It would now be a question of an exit in 2026 or 2027, knowing thata spin-off extraction shooter type would also be in development.
