Finally, World of Warcraft lifts the veil in detail on this famous functionality expected for years. Very clearly, this should convince many players.
Blizzard has just lifted the veil on one of the most anticipated systems by the community of World of Warcraft, the housing. Which we already knew was in preparation. Presented on the occasion of a special event, this new game mode will allow players to build, personalize and live in their own house in Azeroth. But far from being a simple cosmetic functionality, the Housing fits into the whole of the WOW experience, with an unprecedented social, technical and creative ambition for the studio.
A system designed to last on World of Warcraft
This is not a simple addition of comfort. Blizzard has redesigned its World of Warcraft engine to make the housing possible, highlighting the technical magnitude of the project. The houses are not isolated as were the strongholds of Warlords of Draenor, but integrated into real “neighborhoods”, entire areas inhabited by other players.
Each district can accommodate around fifty houses, and their configuration will depend on the players who live there. We can therefore meet his neighbors, organize events, and even participate in local seasonal holidays. The goal is clear, to recreate a community dynamic, where the old personalization systems tended to isolate the players.
Pushed customization and limitless creativity
Blizzard was not satisfied with a basic publisher for World of Warcraft. The tools offered are entirely new and allow great freedom. Players will be able to place each piece of furniture, enlarge their house, add rooms over time, or even build original structures. Some testers have already designed labyrinths, jumping puzzles or corridors filled with visual traps. A dye system also makes it possible to modify the color of the objects, while certain parts will be offered as a prefabricated for those who prefer not to start from zero.
The Housing is not an out of the world of World of Warcraft. It will be linked to the professions (some allowing to make furniture), to the economy of the game (via purchases in different cities), and even to existing content. For example, we can revisit old dungeons or emblematic areas to recover unique decorative objects, such as a Grizzly Hills bear carpet or Karazhan flying books.
The houses will also be used to highlight its exploits in World of Warcraft: trophies, success, rare objects … Everything can be exposed. And contrary to what one might fear, Blizzard promises that there will be no power gain linked to the Housing. So there is no question of staying locked up to farch in a loop. Everything is planned, normally, for the winter of 2025.
