Promised to arrive at the end of the month, Xbox Direct has finally clarified its broadcast date and is preparing some big announcements for us, including one that has been awaited for a long time.
Meeting at the beginning of each year since 2023 for the gaming branch of Microsoftthe Xbox Director Developer Direct for short, is an opportunity for the X brand to set the tone for the new year, while offering its studios and partners the opportunity to speak directly to players to present their future games. After nothing less than Chiaroscuro Expedition 33, DOOM The Dark Ages, Ninja Gaiden 4 et South of Midnight as guests last year, what does the 2026 Direct have in store for us, and when? A date and huge games for Xbox Direct 2026
We knew that Xbox Direct 2026 would take place, like previous editions, in January. However, Microsoft’s gaming branch still had to specify the date, and especially which games would be presented there. We now have a definitive answer to all of this: see you on January 22, 2026, at 7 p.m. Paris time. This will mainly happen on the channels YouTube et Twitch official Xbox ones.
But what about the games that will be entitled to a privileged platform at this Xbox Direct coming on January 22, 2026? For now, we have confirmation of three of them, and definitely not the least. First of all, from the Xbox teams themselves: a single studio will come and present two of its upcoming games to us over the course of the year: PlayGround Games. You will no doubt have understood, we are finally going to see more of the extremely anticipated Forza Horizon 6 in Japan, but also the famous Fable 4without Peter Molyneux. More than gameplay and a behind the scenes glimpse of these two titles, we should also finally know their date or at least release windowbut which will indeed take place during the year.
The third game confirmed as participating in the Xbox Direct is a little more surprising, since this time it is a creation from a so-called “partner” studio: Game Freak. However, it is not a question of a Pokémon game, but of Beast of Reincarnationwhich as a reminder was the subject of a surprise announcement during the Xbox Games Showcase as part of the Summer Game Fest 2025. We will therefore also be able to learn more about this adventure game that looks like Monster Hunter, with a clearly intriguing artistic direction.
