It’s official, Microsoft increases the price of Xbox Series consoles and all accessories with immediate effect. The games will also be affected later.
With the current political and economic situation, it was just a matter of time. While the price of Nintendo Switch 2 games still flows a lot of ink, Sony said it was forced to increase the prices of some of its PS5 models in its key territories. You had to suspect it, Xbox could not escape it for a long time. Microsoft has just confirmed an increase in prices of Series Xaccessories… and soon games.
Xbox consoles and games see their prices climb
While most of us enjoyed our public holiday and good weather, a user with the Lynx eye of Resetera had flushed out a sudden price increase of € 50 from the different models of the Xbox Series at Micromania. It only took a few hours to Microsoft to confirm an increase in global prices, which impacts the whole world, including Europe. All the products of the green brand will be affected, without exception, the increase in prices (which can increase to more than 15% depending on the products) being now effective for all consoles and accessories. To give you an idea, an Xbox Series will now cost as much as a Digital PS5 and an X to 2TB series is more expensive than a PS5 Pro.
With these new prices, the Xbox Series have seen their prices climb by 20% since their complicated launch in November 2020. Here are all the new Xbox rates for France and the rest of Europe:
- Series S 512 : 349.99€ (299,99€ avant)
- Xbox Series S 1TB : 399.99 € (349.99 € before)
- Series X Digital Edition : 549.99€ (499,99€ avant)
- Xbox Series X : 599.99€ (549,99€ avant)
- Series X 2TB Galaxy Black : 699.99€ (649,99€ avant)
- Xbox wireless controller (main) : € 64.99 (€ 59.99 before)
- Wireless controller (colorful) : 69.99€
- Xbox: special editions : 79.99€
- Limited editions : 89.99€
- Manette Elite Series 2 (Core) : 149.99€ (129,99€ avant)
- Elite Series 2 (Full) : 199.99 € (179.99 € before)
Games will drop to 90 € soon
Xbox games will also see their prices climb to € 89.99 later in the year, at the end of the year. According to Windowscentral sources, several of Microsoft members have confirmed that the price of games would always be adjusted according to their scale. AAA productions like Call of Duty should then be capped at € 89.99 when those more modest should oscillate between 50 and 60 €. THE Games Pass is for the moment spared this new pricing policy.
