Ten years after its cancellation, “Project Sabbath”, the Batman Arkham game developed by WB Games Montreal, resurfaces with new images.
After having had resounding success with the games Batman Arkhamthe latest adaptations of the DC Comics universe unfortunately have failed to find their audience. Gotham Knights can for example testify, in the same way as Suicide Squad Kill the Justice Leaguewhose sinking was total. What make all the more disappointing, therefore, the cancellation of the continuation of Batman Arkham Knight Who was under development at WB Games Montreal ten years ago, and who is now offering new images.
WB Games Montreal’s Batman Games Returns surface
Indeed, for those who would still ignore it, before being on Gotham Knights, the creators of Batman Arkham Origins had started working on « Project Sabbath »a title intended to continue the universe of Arkhamverse. Canceled in 2015, the latter could never be formalized by the studio. However, this did not prevent certain information from finding the path of the web, which then allowed us to learn that we had to play Damian Wayne, Bruce’s son, as a new black knight of Gotham.
Since last year, several design images have also been unveiled, like those shared by artist Daniel Simon for example on his artsation account. We saw there then Batman on his batcyclewhose concept has probably led to that which is found in Gotham Knights. But things do not stop there since it is now the turn of another artist who worked on “Project Sabbath”, Rodrigue Pralier, to share a series of additional sketches on his artsation account, available ici.
The one who then occupied the position of designer of characters thus gives us a very beautiful overview of what could have been the casting of the game. In addition to a close-up on the Chara-Design of Damian Wayne, we can then find a older model of Bruce Wayne, who was visibly to remain in the game, alongside several sketches devoted to Killer Croc. Other characters, whose identity is not specified, are also present, knowing that one of them could possibly be an interpretation of Barton Mathis, alias Dollmaker in Batman.
Arkhamverse on the way back?
This is therefore likely to continue to return the knife in the wound for many fans, who are numerous to regret the cancellation of this project for the benefit of Gotham Knights. The good news, however, is that the failure encountered by Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League would have pushed Rocksteady to return to Batman Arkham with a new game which, we hope, will be able to give back all its letters of nobility in the studio. As for WB Games Montreal, he would also work on a new Solo DC Comics game, without further details to date.
