Rebooted in 2019 after a complete restart of the project, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is now in the hands of Retro Studios, the creators of the original trilogy. Its output is scheduled for 2025, both on Switch and on Switch 2, with notable differences according to the console used.
On Switch 2, the game will offer two graphic modes, a quality mode in 4K/60 FPS (with HDR), and a performance mode in 1080p/120 FPS. What adapt to the preferences of players, depending on whether they favor fluidity or visual finesse.
Another notable novelty, the Joy-Con 2 will allow a “mouse” type control, for a more precise aim, especially in portable mode. A functionality already tested on internal demos, which divides a little but shows the will to modernize the approach on Metroid Prime 4.
A universe faithful to the Metroid spirit
The intrigue remains largely mysterious for Metroid Prime 4, as always with Nintendo. We simply know that the story will take place on a new planet called Viewros, where Samus Aran will be looking for an artifact while facing the bonus hunter Sylux. A dynamic that promises intense clashes and a return to exploration dear to the series.
The Metroid Prime 4 gameplay will combine all the classics of the license: the morph ball, the scan of environments, puzzles and combat in subjective view. But there will also be additions, including psychic capacities, still little detailed but visible in the last promotional videos.
