Once again, Dune: Awakening offers a new update to its community to make the gaming experience more pleasant, especially after the discovery of a particularly annoying bug.
Funcom continues to improve the experience on Dune: Awakeningand the recent update corrects a problem that made teeth cringe: a bug of duplication of objects. A fault which, without being massive, risked breaking the balance of a game where the scarcity of resources is at the heart of the gameplay. Good news: the fix is there, and it brings some improvements to be welcome by the way.
End of this ultra embarrassing bug on dune: Awakening
The bug allowed certain Dune players: Awakening to copy objects via the exchange system, or even directly in the inventory. Result: valuable resources could be duplicated at will, which jeopardized the whole economy of the game. In a universe like Dune, based on the survival and management of the shortage, it was necessarily a problem.
With the patch 1.1.15.0this concern is now settled on dune: Awakening. Funcom explains that it was a vulnerability in the exchange system. The corrective neutralizes it completely. Visually, you will still be able to see “ghosts” objects in your inventory, but they are no longer usable or exchangeable. In other words: they no longer really exist.
A fragile economy … but supervised
This kind of bug may seem trivial, but in an MMO as a dune: Awakening where resources are limited, it can have serious consequences. Being able to duplicate the infinite objects imbalances the market, false exchanges between players and overnight to the global experience. Funcom has understood this, and this patch shows how the studio wants to protect the game ecosystem. It is not the first time that such a problem has arisen. Another duplication bug had already been corrected a few weeks earlier. The reactivity of the studio is therefore rather reassuring.
The update does not stop there. It also improves the general stability of the game of a dune: Awakening, whether on the server or customer side. A connection bug, which sometimes prevented some players from accessing their session, has also been settled.
Another useful correction: a concern that sometimes revealed invisible objects during transfers between inventories. It is now ancient history. In addition, a problem preventing some players from traveling properly between Cake, Harko Village and the desert card has been corrected.
Rewards recoverable after a pvp error
Finally, Funcom informs Dune players: Awakening that certain lost objects because of a bug in desert areas have been returned. For a while, the mode PvP had been accidentally activated in areas supposed to remain PvE. Result: some have lost materials, vehicle components or other resources. These elements can now be recovered via the tab “Demand the awards” in the game.
A small gesture that shows that the studio closely follows the consequences of its own mistakes, and seeks to compensate when necessary.
