Civilization 7 has finally deployed the long -awaited update on Nintendo Switch 1 and 2. A nice advance that fans should particularly appreciate. Explanations.
We already talked about it on Gameblog a few weeks ago. Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 continues its evolution with a major updateversion 1.2.2. Long awaited, especially by Switch players, this update is now available both on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. And if this version takes up many news already seen on other platforms, it also marks an important step for adapting the game to portable consoles in Nintendo.
A massive civilization 7 update… but adapted to the switch
So far, the Switch players had remained behind. Certain flagship features of civilization 7 introduced on PC, PS5 or Xbox still lacked the call. With the 1.2.2, Firaxis finally corrects the shot, even if certain technical limits remain. For example, only small cards (Tiny and Small) are available on the classic switch. Standard and more cards remain exclusive to more powerful machines, such as Switch 2 or living room consoles.
That said, the first generation switch owners can still enjoy an enriched experience, with the new advanced game options, the bonuses for cities, gameplay adjustments and even the famous possibility … to pet the scout dog.
New for all styles of play
This Civilization 7 update introduces several designed options to personalize its experience even more. We can now deactivate certain victory conditions, such as the Victory score, adjust the difficulty IA very precisely, or even activate and deactivate events specific to each era. This makes it possible to transform a classic part into a real strategic sandbox.
Another striking addition: the wide and huge cards, although absent on classic Switch, appear on Switch 2. These cards allow large-scale parts, up to 10 players, with new content to balance everything: unpublished pantheons, religious beliefs, cities-state bonuses, cities specializations … The studio has thought of enriching each corner of the game to avoid imbalances.
Religion, cities, AI: welcome adjustments
Firaxis also continues to listen to its civilization community 7. Several novelties now wear a small star in patch notes, a sign that they are directly inspired by the return of the players. This is the case, for example, of religious beliefs, which finally bring a real interest in converting its own colonies. Likewise, new types of cities such as the “Resort Town” allow you to make the most of natural wonders.
Artificial intelligence also benefits from many improvements on civilization 7: it manages units better, avoids absurd behavior (like stacking the colonists without using them), and reacts more intelligently to diplomatic situations.
