Initially scheduled for March 27, 2026, 007 First Light finally postpones its release date by several weeks to allow IO Interactive to refine its copy as it should.
While we are now only a few days away from the start of the new year, it is only natural that the news is slowly starting to slow down, time to regain some strength to start fresh at the start of 2026. A year which, as we know, already promises us great adventures with titles like GTA 6, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Marvel’s Wolverine, Resident Evil Requiem or even 007 First Light…which will, however, have to wait a little longer than expected.
007 First Light shifts its release date
Because yes, as announced by IO Interactive shortly before Christmas Eve, the next adventures of James Bond will finally arrive two short months late, slipping from March 27, 2026 to May 27, 2026. Enough to give the studio enough time to “tweak and refine the experience further”and thus ensure that 007 First Light “achieves the level of quality that gamers deserve on release day”.
“007 First Light is our most ambitious project to date, and the entire team is dedicated to delivering an unforgettable James Bond experience that combines breathtaking action, globe-trotting, espionage, gadgetry, car chases, and more.” indicates IO Interactive in its press release, before specifying that “the game is progressing well and is now fully playable from start to finish”.
“We are confident that this will ensure long-term success for 007 First Light, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we have received since we announced the game” concludes the studio, already giving us an appointment at the beginning of 2026 for more information about it. A blessing in disguise, therefore, since this can only make James Bond’s return to video games better after fourteen long years of absence.
